冠詞「The」、「A」／「An」、 または 冠詞無し？
I’m sure one of the most confusing things about learning English is figuring out when to use which article “the”, “a” /“an” (or no article at all).
英語を学ぶ一番難しい点の一つは どんな時にどの冠詞「The」、「A」／「An」 、（または冠詞無し）を 使った方がいいか考える事だと確信しています。
There are two types of articles: definite “the” (specific case) or indefinite “a”/”an”(general case)
二つの種類があります：定冠詞「the」（ 特定の場合）と 不定冠詞「a」／「an」（ 一般的な場合）
“The”:
We use the definite article “the” to mean we know which one we're referring to. It’s specific, a particular one that we are referring to. “The” is always used with a specific singular noun and even with specific plural nouns.
言及している物がどれの事か分かる時は定冠詞の「 the 」を使います。 これは特定、1つだけの物に言及しています。「 The 」はいつも特定の単数名詞と特定の複数名詞に付けます。
From the second time you refer to something or when you refer to something specific that the listener is already aware of and will not confuse with another thing, use the definite article “the”.
2回目以降、聞き手がもう知っていて、他の物と混同しない特定の物に言及している時に「the」を付けて下さい。
“The glass of water is on the table.”
When there is only one in the world, of course it is specific, so use “the”. For example, “the moon” or “the sun”.
地球に1つだけの物があれば、それはもちろん 特定ですので、「 the」を付けて下さい。例えば、「月」 や「太陽」。
“A”/ “An”:
We use "indefinite" to mean we don’t know or it doesn’t matter which one. It’s general; we are not referring to any one in particular. “a” or “an” is always used with a general singular noun and NEVER used with a general plural noun. ***
知らない、もしくは不特定の時は不定冠詞を使います。 これは一般的な物で、1つだけの物 に言及していません。「 a 」か「 an 」はいつも一般的な単数名詞に付けて、一般的な複数名詞に決して付けません。＊＊＊
The first time you introduce something (singular) use the indefinite articles “a, an”. This is a case where there is more than one, we don’t know or it doesn’t matter which one you are talking about. 会話の中で初めて話す物（単数）には「a」か「an」を付けてください。 たくさんあって、どれについて話しているか分からないし、どれと限定しなくてもいい場合です。
“May I have a glass of water?” （Meaning any glass of water is fine, not a specific glass of water). (どの水でも良くて、特定の１杯の水ではない意味です。）
No articles: 冠詞無し：
***General plural nouns should not have any articles before them.
“We ordered glasses of water.”
一般的な複数名詞の前には冠詞を付けるべきではありません。
When using proper nouns (names), such as people, countries, famous mountains, etc., we usually don’t use an article: Brad Pitt, Taiwan, Mount Fuji. Some exceptions, however, are if the article is part of the name or it is a large body of water like oceans, rivers, we use “the”: The United States The Pacific Ocean, etc.
固有名詞（名前）、人、国や山等、を使う時に冠詞を付けません：ブラッドピット 、台湾、富士山。。。ただし、冠詞が名前の一部になっている場合、または 海や川など具体的な場所には”the”を付けます: アメリカ、 太平洋等。
Non-count general (not specific!) nouns do not have articles, either: 数えられない一般的な物 (特定ではない！）にも冠詞を付けません: “Milk is good for you.”
“Absence makes the heart grow fonder.”
When talking about regular meals, some general places, and modes of transportation, we do not usually use articles:
規則的な食事や数箇所の一般的な場所、交通手段などには普通冠詞は使いません: “We eat dinner at 8p.m usually”
“She goes to work by train.”
“I went to graduate school.” (the noun is “school”, which is a general place. “graduate” is not a place, but is an adjective in this sentence so it doesn’t matter if it's specific or not.) （名詞は学校で、それは一般的な場所です。"graduate"は場所ではなく、この文で形容詞ですので、特定の物かどうか関係ありません。）
